Snake Aithal

Dr. Ravindranath Aithal is well known as the “Snake Doctor” in his home town Puttur. A Small township in South Canara – Karnataka – India.

Puttur is part of our pristine Western Ghats, which is home dor reptiles and the big four venomous snakes.

The legendry King Cobra’s (Ophiophagus hannah) prime food is other snakes and Rat snakes (Ptyasmucosus). The king usually follows the rat snakes and ends up inside human dwelling.

Dr. Aithal plays and important role of conservation by rescuing king Cobra from human dwellings. He has 114 prized catch to his credit as he attends snake distress calls. He also treats injured snakes and trans-locates them to nearby forested area.

He believes education as a strong tool for conservation, he has been giving side shows and talks to school children and public.
